The lecture ‘On Time and Being’ was given on January 31, 1962 in the Studium Generale at the University of Freiburg i. Br., which was directed by Eugen Fink. The title ‘Time and Being’ marks the third section of the first part of the book Being and Time (1927) on p. 39. At that time, the author was not able to adequately develop the topic mentioned in the title ‘Time and Being’. The publication of Being and Time was stopped at this point. What the text of the lecture, written three and a half decades later, contains can no longer be linked to the text of Being and Time. The leading question has remained the same, but that only means that the question has become even more questionable and even more alien to the spirit of the times. The sections in brackets in the text were written at the same time as the lecture text but were not presented."
